About Algirdas Matonis

Algirdas Matonis is a Lithuanian euphonium artist. He currently serves as a Principal Euphonium at the River City brass Band in Pittsburgh and is actively freelancing as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher.

Algirdas has performed as a guest artist with a variety of major orchestras as well as been an invitational performer at ITEC 2102 and ITEC 2014 in addition to Sugrizimai, an European festival. Algiradas was one of the first euphonium players to ever win the Fodens Solo Competition in the United Kingdom as well as the International Music Without Limits competition in the Baltic region.

Algirdas received his undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he studied under the tutelage of Steven Mead and David Thornton. He is currently finishing his Master's degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh with euphonium artist Lance LaDuke.
