About Daniel Chapa

Danny Chapa recently finished his Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas degree under the instruction of Dr. Brian Bowman. He received his Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Louisiana State University in 2008, and in 2010 he received his Masters of Music in Euphonium Performance degree from UNT. Dr. Chapa currently severs as the adjunct professor of low brass at Stephen F. Austin State University and is also a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, principal trombonist of the Odysseus Chamber Orchestra, a member of the Founders Tuba Euphonium Quartet and the North Texas Euphonium Quartet which frequently preforms guest artists recitals throughout the country. He has won various solo competitions, mock auditions, and has been featured as a guest artist at the Great Plains, Midwest, South Central and South East Regional Tuba Conferences as well as the International Tuba Euphonium Conference. He was also runner-up for the most recent United States Air Force Band audition and advanced to the final round of the Army “Pershing’s Own”, West Point, Navy and Naval Academy Band premier band auditions. As an educator, Dr. Chapa has had students win jobs with the 145th Army National Guard Band of Oklahoma and the 531st Air National Guard Band of the Southwest. His students have also won competitions such as the Young Artist Solo Competition at the Great Plains Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference and several of his students advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival.
